About Katie
From my first dialup log-on from the family PC, I've grown up with the Internet, developing a love for the Web and creating things for it.
My coworkers rely on me to get the words just right and deliver a project on deadline. My family has grown accustomed to receiving a funny, touching DVD for special occasions, or just because. My friends know they can count on me for a well-timed link, or maybe just to handle the vocals for Rock Band.
About this Blog
In 2001, I started Mind the Gap, a weblog where I could experiment with writing and multimedia while trying to please a small, smart audience (hi Mom!).
Like the gap between the subway train and the platform, my blog subjects tend to be the overlooked, yet essential elements to our experience in the modern world: eccentric shoemakers, public transportation mishaps, marking seasons in the city.
Over time, I have realized that minding the gap also applies to what I do: taking a typical part of the cultural landscape a newspaper, a television show, a museum exhibit and offering an entirely new take on it, sustaining it in the world of new media. I make sense of the Web and how to best present content online. I mind the gap.
